MathWithMilo

This is a working draft, not a finalized legal document. It accurately describes what the product does today, but a qualified legal review — covering COPPA and any other applicable law — is required before MathWithMilo is offered to the public.

Who this applies to

MathWithMilo is designed for children under 10, used through a parent-owned account. This policy covers information about parents (who create the account) and children (whose profiles a parent creates and manages).

What we collect — and what we deliberately don't

From a parent, at signup: an email address and a password.

For each child profile a parent creates: a nickname, an avatar chosen from a fixed icon set, and optionally an age, a grade, and a 4-digit PIN. As the child practices, we record their answers, scores, streaks, badges, and skill progress so Milo can teach effectively and parents can see real progress.

We do not collect a child's email address, exact birthday, school, home address, phone number, or precise location — these are never asked for, anywhere in the product.

How a child's identity is protected

Children never have their own login or email. A child selects their profile from inside their parent's already-authenticated session. On any leaderboard, only a nickname, a chosen avatar, a score, a rank, a badge, and a streak are ever shown — never a real name, email, or any other identifying detail. A child's internal profile ID is never exposed publicly.

Advertising & tracking

MathWithMilo does not include advertising SDKs, does not track location, and does not add third-party analytics without explicit review. We are not in the business of monetizing attention or data — the product's revenue model (if any) does not rely on advertising to children.

Where data lives

Parent and child data is stored using Amazon Web Services (Cognito for parent authentication, DynamoDB for practice data), transmitted only over HTTPS, and every request that touches a child's data is checked server-side to confirm it belongs to the requesting parent's own account.

A parent's control

A parent can view, edit, or archive any child profile they created at any time from the parent dashboard. Deleting a parent account removes the associated child profiles and their data.

Children's privacy law (COPPA and similar)

This policy describes MathWithMilo's actual data practices honestly, but it is a draft and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. We do not claim compliance with COPPA or any other children's privacy law. A formal legal review is required, and will be completed, before this product is offered to the public.
